Bibliotherapy and lectio divina

I am intrigued by how many forms of therapy are in existence today and how many forms of therapy will come to fruition over the course of time. Some or even most of the future forms of therapy will likely be born out of the melding and modification of existing therapeutic modalities.

I use a form of bibliotherapy in Remote influencing therapy. Bibliotherapy involves the use of reading books and selected reading materials as part of the therapeutic process. I read physical print based books and e-books. I also like to read materials found online. You might think of me as a data geek in some ways as I have collected hundreds of research files saved in PDF format onto Google drive and my storage devices. The aforementioned collection is still growing.

I see a connection between bibliotherapy and lectio divina. Lectio divina is a contemplative way of reading the bible.

In the past I had used shopping as a coping mechanism

I used to use shopping and buying items online as a coping mechanism in the past. There were several reasons why I did this. One of the reasons is that I have been single for many years. I have not found the right lady for one reason or another.

You can see one of the items I had bought in the photo above. I began to buy more and more of these throwing discs. In all actuality I didn’t need to have so many discs. I had accrued some credit card debts as a result of my inappropriate coping mechanism. The light at the end of the tunnel is that I learned through bad experiences, that shopping was not a solution for my problems. I paid off my credit card debts and I am now free of credit card debts. I only buy what I need now on.
